Centre clears Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad
The Centre has granted permission to the Telangana government to take up the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad. The Defence Ministry has allowed the use of 83.81 acres of defence land at Golconda for the project, valued at Rs 533 crore, under the Equal Value Infrastructure scheme.

Hyderabad: The Centre has granted permission to the State Government to undertake work on the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat in the city.
This approval marks an important milestone in the Telangana government’s vision for the comprehensive rejuvenation of the River Musi and the transformation of its riverfront into a vibrant ecological, cultural and public asset for the people, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on X.
“We are grateful for the support and cooperation extended by the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Army,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Ministry of Defence said permission was accorded to the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation for Gandhi Sarovar project in 83.81 acres at Artillery Centre, Golconda on the basis of creation of Equal Value Infrastructure (EVI).
The permission on defence land admeasuring 83.81 acres valued at Rs.533 crore is accorded on creation of EVI accruable to LMA (army) in lieu of defence lands, the order copy shared by the Chief Minister said.
