Visakhapatnam: The Centre is keen on completing the Polavaram project as soon as possible, BJP state general secretary Vishnuvardhan Reddy said here on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters, he said that funds were being released without delay towards this, with Rs.2300 crore being released on Monday. However, the ruling YSR Congress Party and the opposition parties in the state were indulging in cheap politics on the issue and dashing off letters to the Centre criticising its stand, he remarked. Both the TDP and YSRCP had turned the national project of Polavaram into a state project in a bid to get kickbacks, he alleged.
The BJP leader also said that though the Centre had sanctioned 19 lakh houses under urban housing scheme to the state, the state government did not take it up seriously. “Jaganmohan Reddy had promised housing for all during his padayatra before elections. Though 17 months had passed, not a single person has benefited,” he stated.
Noting that both the TDP and YSRCP followed family politics and failed to provide good governance, he said and added that the BJP would change it by strengthening itself and becoming a strong political power by the next general elections.
