Sangareddy: The Vyavasaya Karmika Sangam, a CPI (M) wing, staged a demonstration protesting against the Centre’s failure in implementing the MGNREG scheme at Sangareddy collectorate on Tuesday.
The members of Sangam visited worksites across the district recently and found that the workers were denied basic facilities at the workplace. Sangam State vice-president M Narasimhulu said the payment of the wages were pending for more than two months in the district. The enrollment of working days through the national mobile monitoring system was flawed as workers were denied wages for several days, he said.
Though the government fixed daily wages in Telangana at Rs.300 per day, he said workers were hardly getting between Rs.150 to Rs.250. CPI (M) district secretary G Jayaraju said officials must pay salaries for every 15 days without much delay. He also demanded Rs.25 lakh exgratia to MGNREG workers if they die at the workplace.
