The committee was proposed by Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy during a video conference from New Delhi with Singareni officials on Thursday as part of the Ministry’s efforts towards achieving self-reliance in the energy sector and to ensure that public sector coal companies produce quality coal in line with the rising demand.

The meeting provided key directions on reducing coal production costs, ensuring quality and addressing challenges in supply and related areas.

Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt and other senior officials, including SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Balram, attended the meeting.

The performance and welfare initiatives of both Coal India and Singareni mines were reviewed during the meeting.
