Hyderabad: The Railway Ministry said 69 proposals for Road Over Bridges and Road Under Bridges (ROB/RUBs) were received by Zonal Railway from the Telangana government between 2018-19 and 2021-22, of which, 24 proposals were repeated.
Of the 45 actual proposals that were received during the period, 27 valid proposals have been sanctioned by Railways, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said in Lok Sabha while responding to TRS MPs P Dayakar and G Ranjith Reddy’s question.
He further said three Road Under Bridges (RUBs) have already been completed and balance Road Over Bridges (ROB)/ RUB are in different stages of planning, design and development.
Construction of ROB or RUBs depends upon the consent of the State government for closure of Level Crossings (LCs) and cost sharing, wherever applicable, availability of encroachment free land for approach roads, technical feasibility, shifting of utilities, allocation of adequate funds by State agencies, public support etc. Therefore, it is not feasible to fix timelines for completion of these ROB/RUBs, he explained.
About the balance 18 proposals, various aspects are in discussion with the State Government and statutory authorities regarding consent in sharing of cost, approval of concept profile sketch, closure of LC etc and proposals were yet to be firmed up, he said.
In response to another question by TRS MPs Venkatesh Netha, Kavitha Malothu, P Dayakar and G Ranjith Reddy regarding FOBs, the Union Railway Minister said 15 FOBs were completed till November, 2021, due to Covid pandemic situation during 2020-21 and 2021-22. They were to be completed by March 2021.
