Siddipet: The Siddipet municipality has received Rs 141.34 crore in grants from the Centre to complete the remaining underground drainage works in the town.

The BRS government had initiated the underground drainage project in 2015 with an outlay of Rs 300 crore and completed the works within the stipulated timeframe. Subsequently, it submitted a proposal to the Centre seeking an additional Rs 141.34 crore to extend the drainage system to newly developed colonies and villages merged with the municipality in recent years.

In a statement on Monday, former Minister and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao said the funds would enable the completion of the underground drainage network across the entire town, improving sanitation and hygiene. He urged officials to expedite the works without delay.
