Hyderabad: Alleging that both TRS and BJP were indulging in match-fixing in paddy procurement issue, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy here on Wednesday said the farmers were facing problems because of the delay in procurement process.
In an open letter written to the Telangana society, Revanth Reddy said the Congress would support farmers in all fronts since the TRS and BJP entered into a match-fixing. “It is the responsibility of the government to procure the paddy that soaked during the unseasonal rains that lashed several parts of the State a few days ago,” he said.
Recalling his recent visit to the procurement centres in Kamareddy district, he said farmers were facing untold problems because of the delay in procuring paddy. “Some farmers wept inconsolably saying that their paddy was not procured even after bringing it to procurement 30 days ago,” he said. A few more farmers complained that they did not get money after completion of paddy procurement. Since the situation was pathetic at the ground level, the Central and State governments should come forward and procure paddy in the larger interest of farmers in the State, he said.
The Congress party would stage demonstrations in front of the procurement centres in the State demanding the Central and State governments to procure paddy from farmers at the earliest, he added.
