Hyderabad: Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said the Central government was striving for farmers’ welfare in the country.
At a press conference here, he said the Central government had spent Rs 26,641 crore and purchased as many as 94 lakh metric tonnes of rice from Telangana in 2020-21 as against 43 lakh metric tonnes of rice procured in 2014 at a cost of Rs 3,404 crore.
“This shows the commitment of the Central government towards farmers in Telangana,” he said. He said the Centre was giving Rs.15 crore for tribal museum and at the same time necessary funds would be allocated for the forthcoming Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara in 2022.
The Centre could not take up MMTS phase-II project since the State government had failed to release its component of funds.
Meanwhile, the Telangana BJP on Saturday informed that the Million March planned by the party on November 16 and the second phase of ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ to be commenced from November 21 were postponed since model code of conduct was in force in view of MLC election.
At a separate meeting, the BJP OBC Morcha demanded that the State government announce BC Bandhu immediately.
