Hyderabad: The Union Government said it has taken note of the concerns raised by Telangana over the proposed Godavari-Banakacherla (Polavaram-Banakacherla Link) project, but clarified that no final decision has been taken so far.
Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary said that the Andhra Pradesh government had submitted the Preliminary Feasibility Report (PFR) of the project to the Central Water Commission (CWC). The report is currently under examination. He informed that the PFR has been shared with all co-basin States, including Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, as well as other concerned agencies.
The Union Minister said the Centre has also received objections and concerns raised by the Telangana government regarding the project. “The Union Government is following due process for the techno-economic appraisal of the project, in consultation with the authorities and co-basin States concerned.”
