Visakhapatnam: The Forum for Development of North Andhra has condemned the attitude of the Centre which was dilly dallying the formation of South Coast Railway Zone sanctioned to Visakhapatnam.
General secretary of the Forum A Aja Sarma on Saturday said that he was dismayed at the reply given by the Railway Minister who had stated that although the DPR on South Coast Railway Zone was received, no decision was taken yet, and that he was also not sure when it would be set up.
“According to the AP State Reorganisation act 2014, action should be taken for setting up the separate railway zone for the state within six months. Though 88 months have passed, nothing is done. The Centre is whiling away time with different statements without taking any concrete action,” Sarma pointed out.
He also said the Centre was adamant on other issues also–like the special category status and implementing bifurcation promises, as well as release of funds for the Polavaram project. And on top of it, it had put the Vizag steel plant on sale, he remarked.
The people were upset over Centre’s attitude and want it to respect the laws under the Constitution and by the Parliament, he said, urging setting up of the railway zone without further delay.
