Chain snatcher caught by locals in Hyderabad

A 23-year-old chain snatcher from East Godavari was caught and beaten by locals at Kompally, Hyderabad, after attacking a woman and stealing her gold chain.

Hyderabad: A chain snatcher was caught, thrashed and handed over to the police at Petbasheerabad while escaping after snatching a gold chain from a woman on Monday evening.

The suspect Malladi Narsimha (23), a resident of a Boys Hostel in Ameerpet and a native of East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh came to a store at Kompally, and attacked Bijjam Malleshwari, the store owner. He then snatched away the gold chain weighing around three tolas from her.

The local people who noticed the man fleeing after attacking the woman, chased and caught him. After thrashing him, they handed over Narsimha to the Petbasheerabad police who arrived on the spot.

The police registered a case against the accused and remanded him.
