Chain-snatching spree hits three areas in Malkajgiri Commissionerate

A series of chain-snatching incidents were reported across three areas under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate, with women losing gold chains while walking on roads. Police have formed special teams and are analysing CCTV footage to identify and catch the suspects.

Hyderabad: Thieves went on a chain snatching spree in three police stations in Malkajgiri commissionerate.

In the first incident, suspects flicked away 3.3 tolas of gold chain from a woman, Vijaya, at Anjandri Nagar, Hayathnagar. The woman was walking on the road when the men snatched away the gold chain and escaped.


In Blind Colony at Nagole, the miscreants snatched away 2.5 tolas of gold chain from a woman, Manamma and escaped. In the third incident at R K Puram at Chaitanyapuri, the thieves snatched away 1.5 tolas of a gold chain from a woman, Adilakshmi.

Following a series of chain snatching incidents, the police have formed special teams to identify and nab the suspects involved in the cases. The police have collected the footage recorded by the closed-circuit cameras and started efforts to identify and trace the chain snatchers.
