Hyderabad: V Chamundeswaranath presented Hyderabad wicketkeeper Mamata, who is struggling financially, with a cheque for Rs 5 lakh on Tuesday.
Mamata was selected for the under-19 challengers trophy. She also made it to the Hyderabad senior women’s team as a second wicketkeeper to Anuradha for the recently concluded Senior National Women’s cricket championship.
Mamatha, whose parents shifted to Hyderabad from Gulbarga, Karnataka, was spotted by Chamundi in the Hyderabad under-19 camp.
“She is a talented girl. I also spend time coaching her every day at the academy. She is from a poor family and I hope this amount helps her,” he added.
