Chandrakant Agrawal, Ratnavali Kottapalli receive Indian Humanitarian Award

Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society president Dr Chandrakant Agrawal and senior vice-president Ratnavali Kottapalli have been honoured with the Indian Humanitarian Award for their contributions to healthcare, voluntary blood donation, patient welfare, community development and awareness about blood disorders.

Hyderabad: Dr Chandrakant Agrawal, president of Hyderabad-based Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society (TSCS), along with Ratnavali Kottapalli, senior vice-president of TSCS, have been honoured with the prestigious Indian Humanitarian Award by the Indian Book of Records, the Sickle Cell Society said in a press release on Wednesday.

The award recognises their leadership, service, contribution to healthcare, voluntary blood donation, patient welfare and community development.

The Indian Humanitarian Award also highlights their advocacy and community initiatives aimed at improving awareness, prevention and specialised care for thalassemia and sickle cell disorders.

Expressing gratitude, Dr Agrawal dedicated the recognition to the patients, families, voluntary blood donors, healthcare professionals and volunteers. He noted that the honour strengthens his resolve to advance healthcare and social welfare initiatives.

The award also strives to celebrate their dedication to empowering patients and fostering positive social change, sustained community engagement and compassionate leadership in addressing critical public health challenges, the release added.
