Hyderabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday expressed strong objection to the appointment of a physics professor as the Telangana Education Common Entrance Test (TG EdCET) convener and a JNTU-Hyderabad physical director as the Telangana Physical Education Common Entrance Test (TG PECET) convener.

Questioning the Telangana Council of Higher Education CETs appointments, ABVP Telangana secretary Chintakayala Jhansi asked as to how Prof Venkaram Reddy, a professor from the physics department, and a physical director from the JNTU-Hyderabad were given convener positions for conducting the EdCET and PECET.

She demanded the Council immediately revoke the appointments and appoint senior professors from the same subject. If regular professors were not there, retired faculty could be appointed, she demanded.
