Medak: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday said the State government built 19 check dams at a cost of over Rs 142 crore across River Manjeera and its tributary Haldi Vagu in the past seven years. Speaking to news reporters on this occasion, Rao said the previous governments never put any efforts to build any check dams on Manjeera even after the repeated appeals.
Since they were going to release Kaleshwaram water into Haldi Vagu and Manjeera on a regular basis, he said that there would be no worry for farmers even if there are no rains in Manjeera’s catchment area.
Saying that the Kaleshwaram water has given confidence to farmers, the Minister has said that the farmers can cultivate crops without looking at the sky for the rains since they would release water to rivers and canals round the year.
Stating that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s vision made the dream a reality, Rao has said the farmers in Telangana will have bright future. He has elaborated various efforts put in by the government for the betterment of the farmers in the State.
