Hyderabad: With fire accidents being reported in hospitals across the country, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday directed the officials to assess the fire safety systems in all private and government hospitals and update them wherever required.

Beds in many hospitals, including private ones, are occupied by Covid-19 patients. This apart, during summer season, the possibility of fire accidents is high and such incidents are being reported, he observed.

In this context, the Chief Minister directed officials to initiate measures to prevent fire accidents in the State. He reviewed different aspects with the Health department here and issued instructions to the officials.

In hospitals like Gandhi and TIMS, the Chief Minister directed officials to have fire tenders stationed there as a precautionary measure. “Oxygen being airlifted from other places should be supplied to all the government and private hospitals where the requirement is high. This exercise should be taken up with proper coordination among all departments, ” Chandrashekhar Rao said.

He also issued specific instructions to the health department to arrange as many Corona testing kits in the State as possible. With Covid-19 cases increasing across the country, the demand for Corona testing kits will also escalate. “At this juncture, measures should be initiated to airlift the testing kits from abroad into the State,” the Chief Minister told Health Minister E Rajender.

Rajender informed him that a representation would be made to the Central Government immediately in this regard. “The State government is prepared to purchase the required testing kits,” he said.

The Chief Minister directed the Health department to monitor the condition of people who are under home isolation. “Arrangements should be made to supply home isolation kits to all those who test positive for Covid,” the Chief Minister said.

The Health Minister, in a statement, said the Chief Minister issued instructions to the officials to arrange for home isolation kits to all those in home quarantine irrespective of the number of such people across the State.

The Telangana government is taking all measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus, besides extending treatment, but people should also do their bit and cooperate with the government, the Health Minister appealed.
