Hyderabad: Something very unusual happened in a village in Rajasthan that forced many to gasp for breath in disbelief. A buffalo gave birth to a rare two-headed calf in Pura Sikrauda village of Rajasthan’s Dholpur district. Yes, the newborn calf has one body but two necks, two mouths, four eyes and four ears.
The calf has become the center of attraction in the village as locals flooded to catch a glimpse of the animal.
Reportedly, the buffalo gave birth to the calf without the help of any specialist, veterinarian Gudde Singh said. He added that the calf is healthy and is being taken care of in a normal manner. However, the villagers are regarding it as a curious specimen.
Well, this is not the first time that a rare two-headed calf was born. People from Chandrauli district in Uttar Pradesh also witnessed a similar incident – where local villages considered it as a miracle.
According to experts, the growth of two heads has nothing to do with mythological beliefs and is just a case of biology. In recent times, a two-headed baby snake also made news. The snake is currently been sent to a rescue centre at the Dehradun zoo for examination.
In December 2019, a two-headed snake was found in Ekarukhi village of Belda forest range in West Bengal.
“This is totally a biological issue like a human being can have two heads or thumbs similarly this snake has two heads. This doesn’t have to do anything related to mythological belief. The longevity of such species increases by keeping them in captivity. The life span of this snake can be increased if it is preserved,” Herpetologist Kaustav Chakraborty had said to a news outlet.
