Kothagudem: The Maosist Cherla local guerrilla squad (LGS) commander Rajitha was hiding in Chhattisgarh under the protection of her husband and top Maoist Damodar, district police said.
A statement on Monday said they have credible information that Rajitha fled to Chhattisgarh fearing for her life after the encounter in Pesarlapadu forests in Chhattisgarh on Dec 27 last year and she was accompanying Damodar. But Damodar told Bhadradri Kothagudem-East Godavari (BK-TG) division committee secretary Azad to stay within the limits of the area and take responsibility for the party activities on the borders of Kothagudem-East Godavari districts.
Six people were killed and another eight to ten were injured in the encounter. Maoist leaders Azad, Madhu and Rajesh were not able to provide treatment to the injured who were wandering around in the forests in the grip of fear. If Azad, Madhu and Rajesh, along with the injured members, surrender before the police better treatment would be provided to them along with all possible assistance on behalf of the government, the statement added.
