Hyderabad: For those who want to know which the most ordered item in Hyderabad is, here’s the answer. It is none other than Chicken!

FreshToHome, the fully integrated online brand in fresh fish and meat e-commerce, through its statistics report 2021, has disclosed that chicken, basa/pangas, goat, and chicken eggs are the products that Hyderabadis ordered the most on its website and app.

On the other hand, most ordered ready-to-cook items in Hyderabad were tangy chicken ghee roasts, spicy Chettinad chicken, yummy chicken cutlets, and handcrafted chicken dumplings/momos.

Receiving nearly one order per second, FreshToHome clocked more than 2 million orders per month in 2021. In addition to this, the brand added 8 lakh+ new meat lovers in 2021.

Whereas chicken and Rohu fish ranked as the most sought and ordered products across North India, down South, the chicken still ruled everyone’s heart and Sardine was the fish of choice, followed by the meaty mutton.

Interestingly, chicken also became the most “added to cart” item and then forgotten across all the cities in India.

In 2021 alone, FreshToHome entered various serviceable pin codes; it now covers 80% of Kerala and 86 cities. The platform also added 8 new processing centres in 2021.

Shan Kadavil, Co-Founder & CEO, FreshToHome said, “The report reveal that we received 1 order every second in 2021; while people’s love for chicken across the country became more evident as it became the most ordered product everywhere, fish continues to be a very large percentage of the protein requirement in India.”

The report also revealed that Christmas saw the highest orders for meat, fish, and seafood, while the lowest orders were recorded during the month of February.

According to the report, Green Mussel, a shellfish native to New Zealand but adopted by Indians, was the fastest to fly off the shelves soon after being launched on the FreshToHome platform. Some of the most popular meat cuts favoured by different cities included fish/chicken/mutton curry cut followed by chicken breast fillet and chicken cube.

Surprisingly, eggs were the most popular items from the list of new releases in 2021. The report also suggests that the highest buyer of meat, fish, and seafood in a single year on the FreshToHome app spent Rs 9.6 lakh.
