Children’s writer Vasala Shouri dies of Covid-19

A retired government teacher, Shouri is the brother of the famous children’s literature writer and Kendra Sahitya Academy awardee Vasala Narsiah.

Jagitial: Children’s writer, Vasala Shouri died of coronavirus on Friday evening.

Shouri, who was infected by the virus six days ago, was admitted in a private hospital in Karimnagar wherein he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at 3.30 pm on Friday.


He is 72 and survived by wife and five children. Though his wife Vaageshwari was also infected by the virus, she recovered without any health problems.

A retired government teacher, Shouri is the brother of the famous children’s literature writer and Kendra Sahitya Academy awardee Vasala Narsiah.

A resident of Metpalli, Shouri got a government teacher job after completing Post Graduation in Telugu subject and worked in different places. He also did PG in Astrology.

Fascinated in children’s literature, he wrote ‘Samatha Geethalu’, ‘Uttarudu’, ‘Pilupu’ and ‘the life history of Ramananda Swamy’.
