Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (south) team along with Sultan Bazaar police raided a shop at MJ Market and seized huge quantity of material used in manufacturing of cigarettes from the place.

According to the police, on a tip off, the team raided the place and caught one person Mohd Siddiq, who is incharge of the store rooms where the material was stocked. The police seized tobacco, cigarettes filters, packing covers and other material from the place worth Rs 2 crore.

Two persons Mohd Alam Khan and Naser Alam Khan, both residents of Barkatpura are absconding. The police suspect that an organized gang was preparing duplicate cigarettes of various brands and supplying in the market to earn profits illegally. However, the officials could not find the finished product at the godown.

“Efforts are on to nab the absconding persons. Once they are caught more details about the racket will emerge,” said an officials of the Task Force.
