Hyderabad: Members of various residential and colony welfare associations and apartment owners turned up at the office of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa), Buddha Bhavan, on Monday, to lodge grievances related to naala encroachments, following an appeal made by AV Ranganath, the Commissioner for Hydraa.
A total of 23 complaints were received at the Prajavani on Monday, and over 70 per cent of them concerned nala encroachments, a press release from Hydraa said.
In one complaint, the Brundavan Apartment owners at Chikoti Gardens, Begumpet, complained that the apartment’s cellar was completely inundated in the 2020 floods after the nala shrank due to encroachments.
In another complaint, the locals claimed that the full tank level of Rangadamuni Cheruvu in Kukatpally was encroached, causing the nala to overflow during every monsoon.
A few residents of Paigah Colony, Viman Nagar, BHEL Colony, Avanthi Colony, and Rasoolpura complained that due to encroachment of Hasmathpet nala and Picket nala, their colonies were badly inundated every monsoon.
Representatives of Balaji Nagar Welfare Association, Saidabad, complained that the stormwater drain in their colony was completely encroached, resulting in their localities being affected by floodwater.
