Hyderabad: Citizens Financial Group (CFG), a US-based financial institution, in partnership with Hyderabad-based non-profit Nirmaan Organisation, launched digital labs at the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential Degree College for Women, Wargal.

The facility, established with over 100 computers and high-speed internet connectivity, will benefit nearly 700 women students from socially and economically disadvantaged communities by providing structured digital training and technology-enabled learning opportunities.

As part of a three-year CSR initiative, the programme will offer industry-aligned learning for BSc Computer Science and Data Science students, integrated with AI-based courses and employability skills required in today’s digital economy.

Michael Ruttledge, CIO and Head of ETS, Citizens Financial Group, said that through the lab, Citizens Financial Group is committed to giving 700 young women the skills and confidence to step into tomorrow’s economy.

Cognizant Senior Vice President Sailaja Josyula said that through the outreach programme, Cognizant has been working with institutions in rural Telangana to support college students, especially young women from underserved communities.

MJPTBCWREIS Secretary Saidulu said the initiative is a significant step towards empowering young women from underserved communities with digital skills that are essential in today’s world.
