Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao, who laid the foundation for construction of a new bus station on Friday, said the new three-storeyed RTC bus station complex will serve the needs of increased bus service and passengers. He said the building was designed and constructed with a budget of Rs 6 crore, to enable over 15,000 people commute from Siddipet bus station to various parts of the State everyday.

Since the town is expanding speedily, Rao said the government will soon operate city buses from Siddipet bus station to various parts of the town with an aim to provide safe journey to local commuters. The existing bus station, which was built 45 years ago when J Chokka Rao was State Transport Minister, will be demolished. Apart from building the bus station, the Finance Minister said they will also lay new express roads with an additional budget of Rs 12 lakhs in the town.

Stating that the Telangana government is extending all support to RTC, Rao said they have allocated Rs 3,000 crores to RTC in the 2021-22 budget. Since the road behind the bus station has become congested, he said the TSRTC purchased a piece of land to widen the road and decongest the traffic at an expenditure of Rs 84 lakhs. The road widening will help citizens of Haripriya Nagar, Srinagar Colony, RTO Camp office and Tehsildar office to reduce their travel time and also decongest the existing traffic. He instructed the officials to complete the works in a short span, besides creating a temporary facility to stop the buses until the works of the bus station are completed.

Zillla Parishad Chairperson Roja Sharma, Municipal Chairman K Rajanarsu,  SUDA Chairman Ravindar Reddy, Regional Manager TSRTC Rajashekhar, Chief Advisor to RTC Rambabu, Depot Manager Rammohan Reddy and others were present.
