Hyderabad: Bringing together different NGOs working for the LGBTQ community, city-based Mobbera Foundation is organising a first-of-its-kind initiative – All India Conclave for Queer Mobilization 2021 (AICQM).
The virtual conclave, to be held on August 7 and 8, will have participation of representatives from 28 organisations from across the country. “LGBTQ activism goes on everywhere but each place has its own challenges and its own solutions. We believe in collective efforts and that is the reason we are conducting this, aiming towards collaborative activism,” says Sandipan of Mobbera.
According to Sandipan, this conclave can be a unifying platform for all organisations.
“We don’t know and understand what other organisations are doing. There are definitely LGBTQ issues which some organisations have handled but others are trying to handle. We are hoping this conclave becomes a platform to exchange knowledge on challenges, solutions and activities,” he explains.
As a part of the conclave, the NGO is also trying to build a database of all LGBTQ resources pan-India. “There are some unique problems which can be solved if there’s verified data of resources. For instance, if a person from the community is shifting from Hyderabad to some other city, this database will help them connect with the organisations there for any issue,” he adds.
The conclave will also felicitate individuals working hard towards queer activism and fighting for queer rights.
