Clash erupts between MLA Samuel and Minister Venkat Reddy’s supporters in Nalgonda
Supporters of MLA Mandula Samuel and Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy clashed in Tirumalgiri, Tungaturthy constituency, after a press conference demanding an apology from the MLA. The dispute stemmed from Samuel’s criticism of the Minister’s visit without intimation and alleged neglect of road development requests.
Nalgonda: Tension prevailed at Tirumalgiri in Tungaturthy constituency on Sunday after supporters of MLA Mandula Samuel and Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy clashed after a press conference seeking an apology from the MLA.
Supporters of both leaders engaged in a heated argument that soon escalated into a brawl, prompting police to intervene and restore order.
The confrontation comes after Mandula Samuel criticised the R&B Minister for visiting his constituency on Friday without informing him. Speaking to mediapersons, the MLA alleged that the Minister had ignored protocol and claimed he had failed to respond to his request for development of a 2-km road stretch in the constituency.
According to reports, the Minister’s supporters organised a press conference to object to the MLA’s remarks and demanded that he apologise to the Minister. After learning about the event, Mandula Samuel’s supporters reached the venue and confronted the Minister’s supporters. The exchange turned heated and resulted in a scuffle.
Reports said the Minister’s supporters have decided to lodge a complaint with the Suryapet police against the MLA’s followers. The latest incident comes less than three weeks after a similar clash on July 8, when Mandula Samuel’s supporters allegedly chased and assaulted supporters of Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy at Arvapally in Suryapet district over appointments to party mandal committees.
