Hyderabad: Climate intelligence revolution will be a game changer in helping India’s agriculture and horticulture sectors withstand climate extremes and climate-related challenges, said climate experts.
Participating in the national brainstorming workshop on “Climate Intelligence Revolution and Agribusiness Modelling” organised by Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University, here on Friday, climate experts observed that this emerging field would also create significant employment opportunities for rural youth in the future.
Telangana Agriculture and Co-Operation Department Director Dr. B Gopi emphasised the need to adopt advanced technologies such as AI to effectively address climate-related disasters, including El Niño and cyclones, and ensure that their benefits reach farmers.
Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji Reddy observed that the evolution of weather forecasting since the 1980s, combined with modern AI technologies, had made it possible to provide increasingly accurate weather information and advisories to farmers and the public.
Two books “Climate Analytics” and “Climate Intelligence” were released during the event. Climate experts, university officials, professors, farmers, students and other officials participated in the programme.
