Hyderabad: Most of us who have grown up in the 90s and have used Microsoft, are aware of Clippy or Solitaire or even Paint. These items ring the bell of nostalgia for a lot of us and the same seems to be happening at Microsoft as well. Through a series of tweets and blogs, the tech giant has been getting these nostalgic items into its new software and products.
Microsoft tweeted a few days ago about getting Clippy back if the tweet gets 20,000 likes and since then it has garnered 1,60,000 likes. And respecting the sentiment of Microsoft fans, it has now replaced the boring long, flat standard paperclip emoji with Clippy and will exist across Windows, Office, Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 products.

Microsoft Solitaire, which has completed three decades of its existence, is being given a fitting tribute by including it as one of the backdrops for your next Teams call. And not just Solitaire, even Microsoft Paint – a product of the 1980s that has been part of Windows since its first version – is also getting rebooted. While the Paint has got a successor with Paint 3D in 2017, the designers at Microsoft have gone ahead and included it as a background on Teams call.

Lastly, the lush green desktop background that was popular with Microsoft is getting a place in this nostalgic trip. According to a blog post by Microsoft, the design team has given a new take to this viral picture for Teams meeting by shifting “the shadows, softening the clouds, and adding a dappling of dandelions across the field”.
