Hyderabad: After weeks of record-high temperatures, people in Hyderabad woke up to cloudy skies and a slight dip in mercury on Wednesday morning. However, the relief provided by isolated overnight thundershowers was fleeting, as temperatures began to climb steadily by mid-morning.

The overnight light showers, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, had a cooling effect in the city during early hours of Wednesday. However, in the last 24-hours, (between Tuesday and 8.30 am, Wednesday) Hyderabad had already recorded significant maximum temperatures. The regions in Hyderabad that witnessed high temperatures on Tuesday include Begumpet (40.7), Rajendranagar (40), Hayathnagar (39.6) and Patancheru (39.2).

According to IMD, Hyderabad, the maximum temperatures in Hyderabad on Wednesday are expected to remain at around 39 degree Celsius while minimum temperatures will hover around 26 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, northern districts of Telangana continued to witness peak temperatures. The districts which recorded the highest temperatures were Adilabad (42.8), Nizamabad (42.4), Mahabubnagar (42.2), Ramagundam (41.3) and Nalgonda (40).
