Hyderabad: The State government is gearing up to conduct assembly sessions from the first week of January to discuss different issues, especially river water sharing disputes between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

These decisions were learnt to have been taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with Ministers at Command Control Room on Monday.

During the nearly three-hour meeting, the Chief Minister discussed the recent Gram Panchayat election results. Expressing satisfaction over the results, the Chief Minister directed the Ministers to continue the momentum in the ensuing MPTC and ZPTC elections, followed by municipal and GHMC elections, party sources said.

The Assembly sessions could be held from January 2. There could be discussion on River Krishna and River Godavari water disputes, the sources said.

There was also discussion on BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao’s charges on the Congress government, especially over the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme. Instructions were issued to the Ministers to counter the charges effectively, they added.

Interestingly, when Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu was asked about the assembly session at his press conference, he replied, “I have no information so far.”
