Nalgonda: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed the officials concerned to prepare a special action plan for the development of Nalgonda town. The Chief Minister, who was on a visit to Nalgonda to console the bereaved Thungathurthu MLA Gadari Kishore Kumar, had the officials on tenterhook when he decided to make an unscheduled visit to the District Collectorate and holding a review meeting.

Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil and MLAs of Assembly constituencies in the district attended the review meeting. The Chief Minister also discussed the promises made by him for the development of Nalgonda during the last Legislative Assembly elections.

He instructed the officials to initiate steps for the construction of two integrated supermarkets in Nalgonda town and directed them to lay special focus on the beautification of the town. He also assured sanction of over Rs 100 crore for the development of Nalgonda. He recalled that an IT hub was sanctioned to Nalgonda with an investment of Rs 110 crore.

The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to prepare proposals for the development of tank bund at Udhaya Samudram Balancing Reservoir at Pangal and setting up of Shilpa Kala Thoranam (an arch with sculptures). He also sanctioned Rs 36 crore for the construction of a new building for Nagarjuna Degree College at Nalgonda.

Chandrashekhar Rao inquired with the District Collector about the implementation of welfare schemes of the State government. The issue of podu lands in Devarakonda, Nagarjuna Sagar and Miryalaguda Assembly constituencies also came up for discussion at the review meeting. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to make an effort to ensure that farmers take up alternative crops particularly in ayacut areas.

He also instructed the officials to take up measures for the construction of a state-of-the-art Town Hall in Nalgonda town. While returning to the helipad from the District Collectorate, the Chief Minister stopped at the R&B guest house and expressed his displeasure over the maintenance. When the officials informed the Chief Minister that some part of the guest house would be demolished for road expansion, he instructed the officials to take up the construction of a new R&B guest house with all facilities in the same place. He said Ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy and Jagadish Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the IT hub in Nalgonda on December 31.
