Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday found fault with Congress legislature party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for casting aspersions on the Chair in the State Assembly during the discussion on motion of thanks to Governor’s address.
The CLP leader wanted the State government to pass a resolution against the three new farm laws introduced by the Central government. The Chief Minister intervened and said the issue of farm laws introduced by the Central government does not come under the State’s purview.
“There is only a provision to discuss such subjects briefly. I request the CLP leader to discuss State relevant issues,” the Chief Minister said.
Even as Bhatti Vikramarka continued his speech and wanted allocation of more time, the Speaker said enough time was allocated to him and asked him to conclude his speech. Unrelenting the CLP leader demanded that he needs to be allocated more time and said: “Should we not come to the House?”
Intervening again, the Chief Minister said the Speaker had given enough opportunities and Members have to make good use of the allocated time. “There is a procedure for running the House. Why will the government or Speaker ask members not to come to the House? You are most welcome,” said Chandrashekhar Rao adding “This is casting aspersions on the Chair and is not acceptable,”
Meanwhile, Congress member Rajgopal Reddy in a stern voice demanded that the Speaker to allocate more time to Bhatti Vikramarka. Raising objection to Rajgopal Reddy’s behavior, the Speaker said “Are you trying to dominate me. Do not exhibit your aggression in the House,”
Further, Finance Minister T Harish Rao intervened and demanded the Congress members to apologise to the Speaker for their behaviour before continuing their speech.
The Speaker had initially allocated 10 minutes to Bhatti Vikramarka but he was permitted to speak for 25 minutes. This apart, one minute extensions were given to the CLP leader thrice. Yet, the Congress members demand more time, he said.
“As the Speaker, we request you to save the interests and rights of other Members as they too need to speak in the House on different issues,” said Harish Rao to Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.
