Khammam: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was giving high priority to the welfare of women in the State, TRS Lok Sabha party leader Nama Nageswara Rao said on Sunday.
Several women including TRS State leader Maddineni Baby Swarna Kumari tied rakhi to Nageswara Rao and party leader Nama Krishnaiah on the occasion of Rakhi Pournami here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that Rakhi symbolises love between sisters and brothers. The Chief Minister, as an elder brother, was working hard for the advancement of women in all the fields in the State.
For the first time in the country, the TRS government introduced She Teams for the safety of women and girls. Mission Bhagiratha scheme has been launched to cater to the needs of women who once faced a lot of troubles to fetch drinking water.
Similarly women were being supported with several governmental schemes, Nageswara Rao said. TRS leaders Kanakamedala Satyanarayana, Chittaru Simhadri, U Nageswara Rao, Nama Seva Samithi district president Palvancha Rajesh and others were present.
