Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao conveyed his greetings to people of Telangana State on celebrating the Telangana Language Day marking the birth anniversary of people’s poet and Padma Vibhushan awardee Kaloji Narayana Rao.
The Chief Minister said Kaloji’s emphasis on “everybody to speak and write in one’s own mothertongue”, was an inspiration and gave direction to Telangana’s cultural movement. He said Kaloji has given existential consciousness to Telangana’s language and literature. “Telangana writers should continue the legacy of Kaloji and bring more respect to our mothertongue through their literary works,” he said.
He said that the government was honoring the poets working in the field of Telangana language and literature by recognising them and honouring them awards in the name of Kaloji. He recalled the life philosophy of Kaloji Narayana Rao who stated that “Only your birth and death belong to you, but rest of your life belongs to the nation” and went on to serve Telangana’s language and literature throughout his life.
On the occassion, the Chief Minister congratulated Penna Sivarama Krishna, a renowned poet and writer, who is receiving the Kaloji Award announced by the State government for the current year.
