Hyderabad: TRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao slammed the BJP-led union government for forcing the banks to write off Rs 11 lakh crore of people’s money from the books for the benefit of their corporate friends, but refusing to spend a few thousand crores of rupees for the benefit of farmers.

He ridiculed the statements of the BJP Telangana leaders of conducting raids by Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation officials, terming them as empty threats. “Only criminals will be afraid of such threats. Why should I be afraid of? Do they think that they can threaten us with such statements?” he questioned.

Responding to a volley of questions after the TRS party meeting held at Telangana Bhavan here on Monday, the Chief Minister said the government will fill all the 80,000 vacant government posts in the State. He allayed fears of closure of government schools due to rationalisation which he meant was to improve adequate facilities including teachers on all subjects to improve quality of education.

Chandrashekhar Rao rubbished the speculations over a gap between him and pontiff Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. When asked about rumours about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plans to enter the State politics, he stated that anyone was entitled to contest the elections from anywhere in a democratic country like India. He termed the Padayatras as an outdated trend.
