Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao remained indisposed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad on Saturday.

Though the Chief Minister was scheduled to accompany the Prime Minister, sources said the former was unwell and could not attend the programmes as he was suffering from mild fever.

On behalf of the State government, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav who has been nominated as the Minister-in-waiting, received and gave a send off to the Prime Minister upon the latter’s arrival and departure at the Shamshabad airport.

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and union Minister G Kishan Reddy apart from Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy and others, also were present.

Chandrashekhar Rao’s absence irked the BJP leaders who criticised that he did not follow the protocol and ‘insulted the Prime Minister’. The party’s official Twitter handled tweeted that the Chief Minister violated protocol.

In a strong rebuttal, the TRS leadership shared the protocol advisory and stated that there was no necessity for the Chief Minister to receive the Prime Minister for the latter’s private visit. “It’s totally as per the Protocol issued by Govt of India validated by Ministry of Home Affairs. @BJP4Telangana hould stop these cheap and misleading tactics. (sic)”, the party said.

Further, the party leaders pointed out that both the programme attended by the Prime Minister were organised by private organisations and the Chief Minister was also unwell. They pointed out that the Chief Minister was, however, scheduled to attend both the programmes and a helicopter was also arranged for the purpose.
