Hyderabad: In yet another step towards unification of like-minded forces in the fight against the BJP at the Centre, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will be meeting his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on Sunday. Thackeray had recently extended his full support to Chandrashekhar Rao’s fight for the federal justice, denouncing the anti-people policies of the BJP-led Central government.
The meeting gains significance amidst growing dissent among the States ruled by regional parties against the BJP-led union government. Chandrashekhar Rao will take a special chartered flight to Mumbai around 11 am on Sunday. He is scheduled to have a meeting with Uddhav Thackeray at 1 pm. Their meeting agenda comprises discussion on increasing intervention of the Centre in the State affairs against the federal spirit of the nation, efforts for unification of like-minded forces and future course of action.
Later, he is scheduled to meet Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar at 4 pm before returning to Hyderabad in the evening. Sources said he is likely to be accompanied by Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, TRS Parliamentary Party leader K Keshava Rao, Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar, Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar, Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and a couple of other party senior functionaries.
Apart from Thackeray, several Chief Ministers including Mamata Banerjee and MK Stalin along with former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) national president HD Deve Gowda, extended their support to the efforts of Chandrashekhar Rao and also expressed their keenness to join the fight against the BJP’s anti-people administration. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan too opposed the Centre’s intervention in the State affairs.
