Hyderabad: The State government has decided to constitute yet another cabinet sub-committee and this time it is being constituted to address the issues of employees.

On Tuesday, the Telangana Employees, Gazatted Officers, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC) announced their decision to stage protests in support of their 51 demands from October 28 to January 30. Following this, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and senior officials held a meeting with representatives of 40 employees associations on Thursday.

After the two-hour meeting, the government declared that a cabinet sub-committee would be constituted to address the issues raised by the TGEJAC. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will the committee’s chairman, while IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar would be members.

After Deepavali, the cabinet sub-committee would hold department-wise meetings. The State government was prepared to resolve the employees, the Chief Minister said.

Regarding the employees demand to pay the five Dearness Allowance (DAs) that were pending since long, the Chief Minister said a decision would be taken on the issue by Friday evening. As the cabinet sub-committee that was constituted on GO Ms 317 submitted its report to the government last week, the Chief Minister said the matter would be discussed in the cabinet meeting scheduled on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, the TGEJAC representatives informed that considering the financial situation of the State, the Chief Minister said all the issues were being addressed in a phased manner. “Citing the financial situation, the Chief Minister wanted us to be patient till March in resolving the financial issues. He assured that non-financial issues can be discussed across the table and fixed immediately,” said one of the members, who attended the meeting.

Whether employees would stage protest as per the action plan, TGEJAC General Secretary E Sreenivasa Rao said since the government assured to address our demands, the protest action plan has been rescheduled indefinitely. Further decision would be taken depending on the government’s announcements and discussions, he added.
