Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday evening conducted a surprise inspection of rain-affected localities, including Balkampet, Buddha Nagar, Ameerpet Mythrivanam and other areas, directing officials to expedite work for ensuring free flow of rainwater.
Accompanied by HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, the Chief Minister, began the inspection from the low-lying areas of Balkampet, where knee-deep water was reported after Saturday’s heavy rains. He, along with elected representatives, also visited Buddha Nagar, Mythrivanam, Gangubai Basthi and surrounding colonies.
At Gangubai Basthi, residents and shopkeepers complained that portions of the nala land had been encroached upon and filled to create parking spaces, leading to flooding in the streets. After speaking to officials, the Chief Minister instructed them to lay an exclusive trunk line to resolve the problem.
During his visit to Buddha Nagar, the Chief Minister interacted with Jasvanth, a Class VII student, who said his books were damaged when rainwater entered their home. He assured the boy that a permanent solution would be worked out to prevent such incidents in the future.
