Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy tried to impress upon the teachers community saying that politicians could not afford to mess with them as the latter were prone to inflict maximum damage in the polling booths. The Chief Minister was speaking after laying a foundation stone for the Young India Integrated Residential School at Shadnagar on Friday.

He said there was some unrest among the teachers due to the delay in transfers and promotions. The State government had promoted 21,000 teachers and transferred many without any complications, he said.

Each integrated school was being set up in 25 acres and about Rs.150 crore was being spent for a school. Many discussions were held with intellectuals and experts over the reforms in the education sector and the schools were being set up to ensure bright future for the children, he said.

The Chief Minister found fault with former bureaucrat and a BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar for opposing the establishment of integrated residential schools.

The earlier government had closed 5000 schools and failed to provide sufficient food and classrooms for students, he alleged. But after joining the BRS, RS Praveen Kumar was turning a blind eye to all these issues, the Chief Minister charged.

Interestingly, despite the State government declaring Dasara holidays, a few school students were made to participate in the programme. This apart, a couple of students also addressed the gathering.
