CMC identifies 146 unauthorised buildings, demolishes 47 after Anjaiah Nagar collapse

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has identified 146 unauthorised buildings and demolished 47 in three days following the Anjaiah Nagar building collapse that killed two workers. On Thursday, officials identified 54 more buildings and demolished 21 across three zones.

Hyderabad: In the wake of the Anjaiah Nagar building collapse that killed two workers, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) in last three days identified 146 unauthorised buildings and demolished 47 of them.

On Thursday, an enforcement drive by the CMC town planning wing identified 54 unauthorised buildings in the three zones, a press statement said. Of these, 21 unauthorised buildings were demolished, notices served to 14 property owners, and one unauthorised construction was seized.

The remaining 33 identified cases were being taken up for further demolition and other enforcement action in accordance with applicable regulations.

In Serilingampally zone, officials carried out nine demolitions while Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zone had six demolitions each. Officials said the enforcement drive would continue to ensure compliance with building regulations, and all identified unauthorised constructions would be taken up for action.
