Cognizant donates 500 tablets, 50 laptops to government schools

The ‘Digital inclusion’ initiative of Cognizant Outreach, the company’s employee-led volunteering programme, will benefit over 500 students of class 9 and 10 and over 50 teachers of government schools in Telangana.

Hyderabad: As part of its ‘Digital Inclusion’ initiative, Cognizant in association with Nirmaan Organization, donated 500 Tablets and 50 internet-enabled laptops to government schools across Telangana. The electronic devices were presented to the schools at a function in Zilla Parishad Boys High School, Malkajgiri.

The ‘Digital inclusion’ initiative of Cognizant Outreach, the company’s employee-led volunteering programme, will benefit over 500 students of class 9 and 10 and over 50 teachers of government schools in Telangana. Cognizant has contributed over Rs 1 crore towards procuring the devices, according to a press release.


The company volunteers will conduct programs to train students and teachers on using the equipment effectively and empower them with digital skills and techniques to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Vice-president and Head of Hyderabad Operations, Cognizant, Sailaja Josyula said the pandemic has caused unprecedented disruptions and worsened digital inequality in education. “This donation is our effort to enable these schools to continue imparting education,” she said.

The CEO of Nirmaan Organization, Mayur Pantala said the voluntary organisation developed ‘Digital Schools Program’ to strengthen digital infrastructure in schools and create teacher training programs to equip faculty members with the knowledge to harness digital technologies during the pandemic.

District Educational Officer, Medchal Malkajgiri, I. Vijaya Kumari, Headmaster, Zilla Parishad Boys High School, Malkajgiri M.Veeresham were present.
