Cold wave relents in Hyderabad while intense chill persists in rural Telangana

While multiple areas in Hyderabad had recorded single-digit minimum temperatures in the last 48-hours, the minimum temperatures recorded on Wednesday morning in twin cities was above 10 degree Celsius

Hyderabad: In a respite for people of twin cities from severe cold wave conditions, minimum temperatures between Tuesday night and early hours of Wednesday started to rise gradually by two to three degree Celsius.

However, multiple districts across Telangana State continued to remain under the grip of intense cold wave with Sirpur in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district recording the lowest minimum temperature of 5.9 degree Celsius followed by Bela in Adilabad at 6.0 degree Celsius.


While multiple areas in Hyderabad had recorded single-digit minimum temperatures in the last 48-hours, the minimum temperatures recorded on Wednesday morning in twin cities was above 10 degree Celsius.

The average of lowest temperatures recorded in Hyderabad between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, based on the weather data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), was at Rajendranagar with 10.7 degree Celsius followed by BHEL factory, which recorded 10.9 degree Celsius and University of Hyderabad, which recorded 11.1 degree Celsius.

Till yesterday, the lowest minimum temperature at UoH campus was hovering around 7.1 degree Celsius to 7.5 degree Celsius and within a night, the minimum temperatures increased by at least 3 to 4 degree Celsius within the campus.

At Moula Ali, another region that consistently witnessed intense cold wave conditions with temperatures ranging from 7 degree C to 8 degree C in the past two to three days, the minimum temperatures on Wednesday morning increased to 11.6 degree Celsius.

However, in other parts of Telangana State, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Kamareddy and Vikarabad, the minimum temperatures continued to remain between 5.9 degree Celsius and 8 degree Celsius.
