College student drowns in lake in Mokila

A 21-year-old college student, Pranav Reddy, drowned in a lake in Mokila near Hyderabad during a birthday celebration. He reportedly slipped into the water while washing his hands. Despite efforts by friends and locals, he could not be rescued

Hyderabad: A birthday celebration turned tragic when a 21-year-old college student drowned in a lake in Mokila area on the suburbs on Monday evening.

The victim has been identified as Pranav Reddy, a native of Elimela village in Patancheru mandal. He was a second-year BBA student at IBS College in Dontanpalli in Shankarpally mandal.

Police said that after college hours, Pranav and his friends, around ten in number went to Proddutur Cheruvu locally to celebrate a friend’s birthday. During the gathering, Pranav reportedly went into the water to wash his hands. However, he accidentally slipped and fell into the lake and drowned.

His friends raised an alarm immediately, but he could not be rescued in time. Locals and authorities were alerted and the body was later retrieved.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is on.
