Committee set up to monitor Hussain Sagar lake
As directed by the Chief Minister, K.Chandrashekhar Rao, 15 teams were formed by the Irrigation and CAD department for monitoring the flood situation in respect of these lakes
Hyderabad: The State government has constituted a committee headed by Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation), C.Muralidhar, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the structures of Hussain Sagar lake.
Due to the recent unprecedented rain in and around the GHMC area, majority of the 185 lakes in the city limits exceeded the full tank level capacities placing strain on their bunds and regulatory infrastructure. As directed by the Chief Minister, K.Chandrashekhar Rao, 15 teams were formed by the Irrigation and CAD department for monitoring the flood situation in respect of these lakes.
According to an order issued here on Wednesday, the government after careful examination of the matter decided to constitute a committee for comprehensive assessment of the structures of Hussain Sagar lake. The committee will look into structural stability aspects, hydrological aspects, flood routing and improvements to structures among other aspects and submit a report within 15 days, the order said.
