Hyderabad: AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh said poor people were facing untold problems, especially financial issues, under the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.

Escalating prices of edible oil, pulses and even salt were making things challenging for the poor and middle class group was also feeling the pinch as their budgets were going haywire. Congress was the only party, which fights for the welfare of poor and downtrodden, he said while addressing at the Congress party’s padyatra in Chevella here on Saturday. “People should extend their support to Congress, which has been fighting for the cause of poor,” said Digvijay Singh.

TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy charged that Kaleshwaram project did not benefit the farmers despite the Telangana Government spending over Rs. 1 lakh crore on the project.

“Congress party will restore the Pranahita Chevella project when it returns to power after next elections,” Revanth Reddy said, adding people should teach a fitting lesson to all the defectors, who switched loyalties for their personal gains. The TPCC chief said the padayatra was part of a nationwide Jana Jagran Abhiyan by the Congress party against the rising inflation. He announced that Congress party would continue its agitation till the BJP-TRS Governments purchase every grain of paddy produced by farmers.
