Siddipet: District Collector P Venkatrami Reddy instructed the Revenue officials to complete the land acquisition for LD6 Distributory Canal of Ranganayaka Sagar’s Right Canal.
During a review meeting with the Revenue and Irrigation officials here on Friday, the Collector said that the LD6 Canal will help in filling tanks in Basvapur and Gundreddypally villages of Koheda mandal.
Underlining the importance of completing the distributory and minor canals to supply water to tail-end lands under the project, the Collector said that availability of water in tanks will help farmers take up cultivation of summer crops.
He asked them to complete the land acquisition and canal works within 10 days from today. The Collector said that they need 22 acres of land for the distributory canal and 4 acres each for minor canals in Basvapur and Gundreddypally villages respectively.
Reddy further said that they had clear instructions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Finance Minister T Harish Rao to fill all the tanks under Ranganayaka Sagar with Godavari waters during this summer. Saying that the farmers co-operation is vital for the land acquisition, said the Collector adding that the local public representatives must play a key role to convince the farmers.
