Complete paddy procurement in 6 days: CS Somesh Kumar

The Chief Secretary directed Collectors to meet the shortage of labour and gunny bags from the local market, and advised them to ensure sufficient availability of vehicles for transport of paddy.

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar directed District Collectors on Thursday to expeditiously complete paddy procurement exercise within the next six days. He also directed the Collectors to meet the shortage of labour and gunny bags from the local market, and advised them to ensure sufficient availability of vehicles for transport of paddy.

“Keep a check on unwarranted cuts being imposed by the millers,” the Chief Secretary said, and directed the Secretary, Civil Supplies, to ensure smooth and seamless procurement operations.


Addressing the Collectors during a video conference to review the arrangements for paddy procurement, vaccination of potential Covid spreaders and supply and availability of seed and fertilizers in view of the expected early arrival of monsoon, Somesh Kumar instructed them to conduct a detailed review with their District Agriculture Officers and ensure sufficient availability of seed and fertilizers at the point of sale.

With regard to the vaccination drive proposed for potential spreader categories, the Collectors were informed to strictly follow the line list and limit vaccination to the categories decided by the government. Further, they were also directed to carefully ensure administration of only Covishield vaccine to these categories.

SAM Rizvi, Secretary Health, M Raghunandnan Rao, Secretary Agriculture and V Anil Kumar Commissioner Civil Supplies also participated in the meeting.
