Khammam: TRS Lok Sabha floor leader and MP Nama Nageswara Rao has asked South Central Railway (SCR) authorities to speed up pending projects in Telangana.
SCR GM Gajanan Mallya held a meeting with Telangana MPs in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The MP who attended the meeting expressed serious displeasure at the railway department’s negligence in setting up a coach factory at Kazipet, said a statement from the MP’s office here.
He said for the past seven years, the railways was neglecting the coach factory which was promised in the AP Reorganisation Act. If the coach factory was set up it could provide employment to thousands of persons.
Referring to SCR’s development works in erstwhile Khammam district Nageswar Rao suggested that as the railway line between Kothagudem (Bhadrachalam road station) to Sathupalli nearing completion the works related to proposed Bhadrachalam to Kovvur in Andhra Pradesh have to be taken up.
He sought to know the progress of proposed Pandurangapuram-Sarapaka railway works which was sanctioned in the year 2011 with an estimation of Rs 79.82 crore. He wanted the speedy execution of the project as it could ensure better connectivity to Bhadrachalam temple town.
The railway officials informed the MP that following his request the SCR has sanctioned construction of escalators on the first and second platforms along with installation of 60 CCTV cameras at Khammam railway station.
The MP asked the SCR officials to construct additional roofs on the first and second platforms. He also wanted the South Central Railway to give priority to pending projects in different districts in Telangana and complete them at the earliest.
